This television commercial, John 3:16 for kids, was originally aired during the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots NFL playoff game. On Monday, January 9, the most searched for term on Google was “John 3:16” and that is because of the connection of that Bible verse to Denver Bronco starting quarterback Tim Tebow.

Tebow won an amazing playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers the previous week, and had thrown the football for 316 yards. He was also famously known for painting the “John 3:16” verse on his eye black as a Florida Gator.

ColdWater Media was asked to produce a television commercial with this Bible verse by Focus on the Family. It had to be finished and delivered in less than 48 hours. So the same day they got the call, they put out a call for kids. Almost 50 showed up. They shot 4 hours worth of material, and then worked through the night to get a rough cut for network approval by the next morning. Three versions later, they received their approval. The spot was mastered and color corrected in Denver, and then a man from Focus on the Family jumped on a plane at 1:00 AM in the morning to hand it off to the network in New York City the next morning.
